In 2013, an earthquake rocked the East Coast. Unaccustomed to such matters, it
stretched from the Carolinas to Maine and above. The GW Monument, the still tallest
free-standing structure of stone in the world suffered and still does. To this day (2017),
it's elevator is not functional due to the damage which was repaired to the structure. The
scaffolding shown was the "framework" for the repairs.
